Salem Chiropractor Helps Prevent Work Injury

Pain in the arm, wrist, and the hand is a common problem for people who work at computers all day. Sitting and repetitive motions like typing can put strain on our shoulders and hands, which builds up over time to create chronic tension and strain.

A new report documents a case study of a 54-year-old man who worked in an office and was suffering from reduced functioning of his hands, regular headaches, and pain in the neck and shoulders. His chiropractor provided him with chiropractic care, and also helped him with his office ergonomics. The authors followed-up with the patient for two years after treatment.

At the end of the study, the patient had dramatically reduced pain, no disability, and increased grip strength -- all without drugs or surgery.

Chiropractic can work for you too. We here at Michels Spinal Rehab and Associates can improve your spine's natural function and help you with ergonomics at your workplace.

Here are some tips to keep in mind if you work at a computer all day:

  • Have the proper ergonomics. Make sure that your keyboard and mouse are properly placed, and that your chair and desk are at the right height for you.

  • Take regular stretch breaks. Get up and walk around frequently and do some stretches for your shoulders, neck, and back.

  • Get some exercise at lunch. Rather than sitting down to eat, go for a walk for 20 minutes to get the blood moving.

  • See your Salem chiropractor! We've worked with many patients with carpal tunnel syndrome and other pain disorders, and we can help you, too. Give us a call at (503) 399-7607 today.
